I have a wood deck all around my house , above ground pool and out door kitchen. We have had it for 13 yrs not one sliver and the boards are not pressure treated just done in a solid stain. IMO the decks should match.

One of the most common complaints I've heard about composite decking is that it's hotter in the sun, not cooler, than wood, to the point where some people say you can't even walk on it in bare feet.

For the price of composites, you could get ipe, which is real wood that stays cool in the sun, has good traction even when wet, and doesn't splinter. It's also super-low maintenance, especially if you want it to be gray.

I love my composite deck but the one complaint about all composites is that they are hot to the touch.
