What a pleasure to stroll through your garden! Gorgeous. The plants are a stunning assortment of beauties! Many are not hardy for me but how you have incorporated them all together so seamlessly is a lesson to learn from and give ideas to all of us! Thank you for sharing.

Just fantastic. Your garden tops most professional ones I've seen. Wish I could come sit for a day! I loved seeing your Rue Anemones. Reminds me that I'd like to have them in my gardens one day. The foliage always draws my eye.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. It was fun to make a video, and now that I'm in the swing of it I'm finding it's a good way to document the garden in general, and at the same time as I walk around different areas I can make comments to myself for future changes, etc. I've never been one to make lists and if I do, I usually lose them!

Liquidfeet, rabbits haven't made it up my way as of yet. They're about 20 miles south marching north from MA. They'll be here some day and I think at that point I'll hope that my Liquid Fence will repel them. I already use it for the deer (when I remember........) and it works very well on them. Label says works for deer and rabbits so I'm hopeful that will be my secret weapon against them when they show up! I do know it does not work on woodchucks. Those little buggers! We had a snowshoe hare show up a couple years in a row and it really enjoyed the epimedium. I didn't try the Liquid Fence because I loved having it around. When it was eating clover in the lawn it would let us sit about 8' away from it while it ate.

Deanna, thanks so much! Good eye seeing that Anemonella. I noticed it this year as well. They've been gone for a number of years. I had about 5 different varieties at one point quite a number of years ago, and the voles really had their way with them. I didn't plant this clump near the tree peony, but I'm glad somehow this one showed back up. I do very much miss the other varieties I had. They were so petite and pretty. I'm a sucker for the pretty, special shade plants. That double trillium cost me a fortune, but it was calling to me on a bench at a nursery. So glad I caved and bought it. Love it.

I enjoyed taking a tour of your shade garden with you and hearing your commentary. Your voice is calming and relaxing. ....I also get frustrated with my Peonies blooming just as the heat soars in my area. Beautiful Bleeding Heart, so big! As a hosta lover, that was a painful story to hear how the vole took your blue one! .....I hope you will take us through again. It's fun to see how gardens change throughout the season.

Thyme2dig that was lovely! I watched it several times over the last few days, taking some notes after the first viewing. Not only is your garden wonderful but I loved your narration - and your sense of humor!

I was encouraged to see irises in your shade garden. I know on the one with the beautiful purple-edged foliage (what is that, by the way??) you said you might not get blooms, but I did see another in bud. That gives me hope for growing irises in my shady yard!

Lastly, what was the heuchera with the beautiful silvery leaves with the purple veining? That was a real eye-catcher!

I've had others who have watched this say they want me to do some meditation videos!! Haha! I guess I'm just really "chill" when I'm in the garden. The bleeding heart will fill out quite a bit more. It's hard to believe how big it has gotten. The rootball has moved itself almost under my deck. I find that so interesting.

Dee, I'm so glad you are enjoying the video and jotting some things down! Thanks for your nice words about the narration. I have never done a video, really of any kind before, but I figured I would just talk like I would to a friend walking through the garden. I'm so thankful we all have our gardens during this crazy, unprecedented time.

the Iris in bud is in the side of the garden that gets some later day sun. Certainly not full sun, and I do have another bearded Iris that blooms quite well in an even shadier site in my garden.

I honestly can't remember when I picked up that cool Iris with the purple foliage. Marie helped me out after viewing the video and mentioned it could be 'Gerald Darby'. It sure looks like it.

I'll see if I can find a tag for that heuchera. I'll be honest when I say that I'm not the best with keeping track of every variety in the garden. I'll see what I can find and get back to you on it.

What a lovely garden you have. The foliage on that iris is incredible and I agree it is good enough even if it never blooms! You have such a marvelous mix of plants, flowers, and leaf shapes. I will be watching again and again. Thank you for sharing, Thyme.

I am sure the iris is Abraham Darby. I picked it up at a 'home nursery' which sells by the side of the road and in the back yard. I have never seen it in a catalogue but I don't look at any iris specialty sellers. Sidebar: Diggerdee how good to see your name here! Have you been back long? Hello Marie!! Thank you - yeah I started posting again about a week or so ago. Kind of got away from gardening for a year or so, (health issues, busy, work, life, lol) then did flowers for my daughter's wedding last fall, so I got bit by the garden bug again lol. Also, my husband, after 25 years in this house, got bitten (a small bite, but hopefully it will grow!) last year during the wedding flower extravaganza, so I'm getting a BIT of help in the yard. He's loving the consequences, still trying to get him to realize the WORK needed lol, but he's doing his part.

I do wish the forums were as active as the old days. Not a facebook person so this is it for me. It is nice to be back though!

Sorry thyme! Didn't mean to hijack! Back to your thread! I did google iris Abraham Darby and once I got past all the rose pictures I did see images of that beautiful purple foliage. I'll have to look out for these. They really are lovely.

@Marie Tulin Boston burbs z 6a I got my Iris Gerald Darby from Nan Ondra. I've been a long time reader of her blog. She was kind enough to share when I started building my new garden a couple of years ago. It's a great pass along plant, interesting and vigorous.

Hi Marie, I weeded the entire garden at one point well before I filmed. But in between I mulched with the chipped oak leaves. Those provide a great mulch and really keep down the weeds.

I'm thinking of filming the cottage garden when it's crazy-full bloom sometime mid-late July. Maybe the daylily bed as well. Those areas scream with color when they're in full bloom. Glad you enjoyed the tour. Wish this was a time where we could tour each other's gardens in person. Soon I hope!

Thanks so much, Lyban. That yellow is Euphorbia 'polychroma'. I think there's only 1 of the original 3 I planted. The rest are seedlings. I have not found this to be a prolific seeder in my garden. Just enough to give me some extra plants here and there. And wherever they come up, I leave them. I don't bother transplanting them. This one should do well in Z4 for you.
