You will find many reviews on both in the Houzz forums archives if you do a search for both brands individually. Sort your replies by "most recent" since Omega in particular has had some recent quality control issues.

Thanks. I saw that, but also found reviews saying Showplace has had some issues too consistently over the past 10 years. I’m sure no cabinet maker is perfect and there will be issues with no matter who we select. The difference with Omega is that their customer service rep responded to the complains unlike any other customer service rep on here.

@Rebecca Geisler-Hepner Publicly-readable responses from a cabinet company are great, but they are not always an indication that everything will be resolved to your satisfaction, and a better solution is often to go with a company that has a better track record for few problems to be resolved from the outset. The Omega company was once known for very high quality, but some reviews in the last few years have focused on the decline in quality of construction and of the paint or clear top coat quality overall. If we knew where you were located we might be able to give recommendations of companies near you that do good work. Some semi-custom, entry-level lines that are going to give you nearly flawless product and sound customer service would be Prelude from Plato Woodworking, Aspect from William Ohs, and Harmoni from Bentwood Kitchens. You might also look into Jay Rambo if that is regional for you.

@Rebecca Geisler-Hepner I'm so glad you're in Michigan so I can give you this recommendation, then! There is a company called Benchmark Wood Studio in Holland, Michigan, and their online portfolio is perfection. They would have been the first company from which I would have sought a quote had I been local, but at the time we focused on companies nearer to us to save shipping costs since we are over 1,000 miles away from MIchigan.

Michigan is a gorgeous state, as you know, with several communities of Amish tradesmen, so you might look into other local builders as well. If you check out Benchmark, I would love to know how the experience worked for you.

Obviously the reviews to which I previously directed you regarding Omega were from people who had recently installed and/or lived with the cabinetry as I hope you read for yourself rather than taking my word for it. I have inspected Omega and Kemper (a subsidiary) cabinetry displays in person but based my own decision to move on to other companies on a variety of factors. Based on recent reviews, you could do better than Omega/Kemper, and you could definitely do much, much worse as far as finish quality, construction, and warranty service. It pays to read up on as many recent reviews as you can possibly find before committing to any builder, and take note of the dates of the reviews. More than one of the cabinet companies and even faucet companies and other suppliers that were favorites of the former Garden Web contributors and that still are referenced in searchable threads here in the Houzz forum after the merger have shifted over the years in ownership, service, and other factors that are essential to a good experience post-installation. There may be improvement over the years (hopefully), they may be the same, or there maybe some new things to consider.
