Ceiling Paint Bleed

The previous homeowners built this house and painted the walls. They did not remove light fixtures, paint is very bubbly in some areas, lots of paint drips to sand down....but I digress. What can I possibly do with the ceiling/wall seams? In this case, I am painting over a Navajo Red color. The red extends onto the ceiling (and the baseboards and door trim). I HATE installing crown molding, but what else can I reasonably do to fix this? Should I paint a flat white down and onto the wall to cover the red, then repaint a straight line with my beige? What if the ceiling white I choose is a noticeable color difference from the rest of the ceiling? The whole house is like this. Thoughts?
