It's beautiful! I do love white in a quilt, it makes it look so crisp.

Thanks, everyone. Fran, if you look at the third photo, you can see how the back of the quilt looks. There is no binding when you face a quilt to finish it. This lets the pattern on the front just end without putting a "frame" around it. My sis said she wanted the "birds" (the white triangles and squares) to just fly off the quilt. She's much more imaginative and creative than I am.

jit37869, From what I have found, no they are not the same. Knife edge finish is to fold both the front and the back edges to the inside and hand stitch to close. Facing is like what Lois did and, depending on the fabric, kind of looks like a border on the back.

I was thinking a knife edge was what you get when you birth a quilt.
