Thanks! I posted these photos in another thread but figured I’d add here too. We want to cover this skinny beam with something a little wider that can be stained. Trying to decide what would look more like a beam (wood wrapped around the existing beam or faux wood beam). I’m worried about the seams in real wood.

Curious what you decided on your beam. We have a similar scenario. We haven’t even checked faux beams. I’m also afraid ‘wrapped’ beams won’t look good. We can paint them too.
What faux beam companies did you check into?

Dcsam We ended up going with real wood. I felt weird about a major accent piece to the room being fake. We chose Cedar planks...but it’s currently being worked on. So I can’t say how it looks yet. I’m really hoping they can make it look good. We’ll know soon! I’ll try to remember to post photos.

Okay, thank you. We have to decide. The little searching I just did makes it sound as if the faux may be more costly anyway. I’ll have to see how wrap-around beams look.
Will you paint or stain?

We are staining it. I love the look of natural wood...though I know painted beams can look nice too. I think if you paint it, it should be easier to hide the seams.

I just created a new post for this but wanted to check here... we had our beam wrap made from cedar wood but it’s about 1-2 inch narrower than desired. We have a 6.5” fan base and a beam that is 5.5” wide. So the fan base will hang out 0.5” on each side. Should I have them remake the beam or will this look ok?
