From my short experience in growing hosta from seed Second years seedlings some came with streaking and some just single color. I think the more streaking and more even spread you have the better your chances. I am seeing that some want to " settle" rather soon. Am not sure if my anecdotal experience is just that.

i messed with those peat pots.. and sleeved peat thingees... epic fail ... hope you do better ... the base problem was keeping them moist with the furnace going.. and the pot wicking all the moisture out of them .. in winter ... in the house .. i came to the conclusion they wer more of a greenhouse type product ....

when they get the next set of true leaves .. it would be time to repot them individually ... and cull some ...and probably get them outside in full bright shade ...

if you wait too long.. the roots will grow into that netting .. and then into the peat pot.. and you will never get them out ...

and you can do a lot better than all peat ...

otherwise.. congrats.. wasnt all that hard was it???

Ken, I think I will just cut out any that aren't showing any signs of streaking.

The peat wafers are pretty easy and convenient for starting seeds, was hoping the netting would dissolve after a while. I used MG in the peat pots and put them in a cookie sheet that i fill with water every day. They stay quite wet.

You think i should take them out of the netted wafers when they get a little bigger? I was hoping to just leave them as is and plant the whole thing in the ground or larger pot nest year.

Well I discovered the peat wafers with the netting will not decompose very fast. While top dressing with my compost, i found several of them from at least two years ago if not three years still totally intact. I will get my seedlings out before thy have a chance to root into the netting.
