I agree with erinsean, I think hanging the curtains that high will highlight the fact that the slider is asymmetrical. And I agree with the others that a light color would best. I think that hutch would look better flat against the side wall. And you might consider a bigger rug, you could get a sisal rug that would be affordable and almost as large as the room, but still be easy to walk over as this looks like a higher traffic room near the kitchen with a lot of doors.

Honestly wasn’t expecting 2 “no” votes on hanging the curtains higher. I though that I’d be able to “hide” or correct the offset with a curtain across. Maybe I need to open up photoshop 😉

I wouldn't go that high either. Maybe half way between where you have them and the horizontal window. Use the wheat color or a cream color.

I think low contrast would be ok [curtains same color as wall, maybe satin nickel rod]... cause there seem to be several 'lines' that fuss up the wall.... possibly seeing the entire room would help.

Looking again, I like what you have with corner unit and curtains. The harpoon thing seems to draw attention to wall more.

Unless you have a very low ceiling there will be no standard size curtains that will fit. I think where you have the curtains works well and for sure can be standard. As for color I have no idea since all the stuff you have on the sofa distracts from what is actually there all the time so I would say just a color close to the wall color.

I agree the piece you have on the wall between the slider and the window is distracting from the view outside. can you by chance photoshop that out or remove it and retake picture with both options for curtains. cost will be much higher for custom curtains, so not sure if that has influence on your decision. it may not be worth the cost? I agree too that the curtain color needs to be light and close to wall color.

The clerestory window is a nice feature, why do you want to cover it up? And if you mount them that high the curtains will be almost impossible to shut. And it still draws your attention to the asymmetry.

Another vote on not to hang drapes above the clerestory window. I'd choose a light color, no gray or back. I'd also remove the weapon(?) between the sliders and the clerestory window.

How about hanging them higher but just to the bottom of the long single window? I then would consider removing what you have in between the windows (some kind of hunting apparatus?)

As far as color, I would go with something similiar to the wall color (could be the same or lighter or darker).

The corner unit is cut into the molding so that has to stay. I do need to get a new coffee table, this one was great with the bigger rug we had but the bigger rug just wasn’t working for the traffic pattern.
Looking for a smaller round glass top table for better scale and to see the pretty rug.
