Are you going to do this yourself? There are some excellent hybrid bermudas out there. You can have the best of the best for a very low cost if you want to put some effort into sprigging.

It took me awhile to find the right post, but here's a link to it. It's been 6 years and many people around the Interwebs have tried to improve on Simon's idea. I don't think anyone has. Grab a cup of coffee and take some time to absorb what he did.

So, what did you think about Simon's sprigging method? Sprigging is normally very expensive and only done for professional sports like golf, baseball, and football. Simon makes it seem easy and extremely inexpensive,

I am definitely considering that route since it will be cheaper, and will help with any extreme leveling issues. The last house I built we dealt with too many undulations after we sodded. Sprigging sounds like a more viable option to help with that.

I've read Sheldon's enthusiastic comments about Latitude 36 before. Sheldon, would you mind posting a new topic titled "My experience with Latitude 36 Bermuda," or words to that effect. If you could tell us where you live and post a few pictures in the topic, that would be great.

A local Parks and Rec director swears by TifTuf! Looking into all of these.

$2.50/yd if I pick it up from the sod farm. I'll have about 140 yards down after tomorrow at a total cost of $350 plus a few bucks to the kids next door to help clear the weeds and lay the new sod.

And keep in mind that there's no supplemental watering!

I have about 10,000 sq ft worth of grass that will be needed if I sod.

Sprigs might be cheaper but will take longer. I'll ask today how much sprigs cost.

The beauty of sprigs is you can make your own for the price of a few pieces of sod. That's what my earlier link was about.

Sprigging is not instant, but it's about as fast as seeding...which you likely cannot do with the hybrid bermuda grasses.
