Which direction should my hallway to garage door be? Left swing into the hallway or left swing into the garage?

To the left is our shear wall, it was likely put up before our electrical guys come in and put our light switch to the right of the door. So now, I'm trying to decide if I should push to have the light switch move to the left where the shear wall is. Plans called for left swing door into the hallway with switch on the shear wall area.

Left swing into the garage would create a safety hazard IMO as there is a 3 ft drop and we will have steps leading into the house.

* The current door will be replaced.
