Based off your wall cabinet and basket with cleaning products, it looks like storage is needed. I would replace your wall mount sink with a small bathroom vanity. Then, update the lighting and mirror. Take down the wall cabinet and add a large piece of art or wallpaper throughout.

You could do a wallpaper accent wall.

What style is your adjoining room?

Doesn't look such a horror to me, so it's just how much you want to invest for fashion or fun. Minimum would be new light and maybe paint the cabinet white. Maximum would be some dramatic paint and/or wallpaper, a sink or vanity with more personality (and storage), updated mirror and light, some art. Any of these options can be dramatic and/or formal without being overtly feminine -- Rebekah's second photo gives just one example.

It's used by men (and yourself), I'd keep it simple. Men don't do fussy well, i.e. all they need is a toilet and occasionally tp.
A masculine paint color and the wainscotting would look great. Sounds fun. Enjoy.

The average male doesn’t give a hoot about bathroom decor....not to say that all of your males are average in a negative way. If they are all tall, the high medicine cabinet may be fine, but it seems a bit higher than normal. I have a pedestal sink in a tiny powder room, but your bathroom is not a powder room and there is always stuff to store....towels, shampoo, etcetera. I would not hesitate to get a new sink/vanity cabinet right now. Undermount sinks offer a bit more counter space and the boys can learn to quick-wipe the counter without having to deal with a rimmed sink. A one-piece sink-counter unit is even easier to keep clean. Simple, more current, light fixtures will work wonders in style and probably add more light. With boys, you may want to buy four washable rugs for in front of the toilet. I see no towel holders except the empty hook next to the sink.

The style of the adjoining rooms is transitional with a lot of light blues and grays. Most of my decor is from Pottery Barn. This is a powder room and there would be no need for storage of shampoo. The cleaning supplies are ironically for the men who use the bathroom, if you know what I mean 😱. I like the idea of a vanity as minimizing the amount of floor space might be better with the amount of mess the boys and men make in the bathroom. I’m not sure I’m all that crazy about rugs in the bathroom and there would only be space for 1 rug. But someone has photos of a rug in a bathroom I could be sold 🤷🏼‍♀️

you seem to have a fun sensibility based on your comments about the many boys and men who use the powder bath, so why not make it fun with a masculine appeal.. a couple ideas... wallpaper the room with a book wallpaper or create shelves on one of the walls to fill with magazines. you mentioned a fun color for a vanity. maybe a mirror with a weathered wood frame

I'd lose the head-banger over the loo and replace the storage via a vanity that has legs (for a more furniture-like look). What's your style? I'm thinking it could be fun to go with the man cave bar thing and throw in a rustic element or two. You could do a fun framed poster or have a favorite photo enlarged for over the toilet once the cabinet is gone. The mirror is fine but I'd update the light fixture. Maybe it would be fun to take a family vote on the color (you could subvert this by presenting selections you know like, or a hue from each family member's favorite color that you could live with and have everyone vote on those).

I'm in the mood to browse vanities, but I'm not sure of the sizes that would work in your bathroom, these examples are just to show some styles that could be fun.

I think it would be great if you could fit a small vanity in there instead of a pedestal sink so you could get some storage. Could you fit a 30 inch vanity in the space? If so, I'd look at Fairmont Designs and Empire Industries for some nice quality vanities. They are well made and will offer some storage. They even come as small as 24 inches. I think some bead board or wainscoting would look great with your transitional style and also help with the men in the space. A great mirror and light fixture and some paint and you're done. Take out the cabinet over the toilet and put up some are instead, or if wanting a little display above try a vintage bamboo shelf.

I would stick with smooth easy to clean surfaces in view of all the boys using it...and in the same spirit finishes with variation in color rather than solid...so every speck and splash wont show...love the ones with stone details as it is interesting and special as well as manly

Okay...my bad. In my book a half bath has a shower OR tub, but not both, and a powder room has just the toilet and sink. You referred to it as a half bath.
I would still like a vanity for storing toilet paper, clean hand towels, extra hand soap and room deodorizer. And I would change the light fixtures.
