I don't really see any benefit to that approach -- better would be to add lights to the portico, either two at the tops of the pillars or one in the arched region (which might illuminate your house numbers, if that's what you scratched out). Second choice, stick with the lighting you have for the entrance and add some up-lighting on either side of the stairs to illuminate the front and add some drama.

I would consider a “Moustache Light” over your entrance. (Google it!). Hinkley makes lovely ones. And you can also opt for gas lights, too. But it would eliminate the issue of your euonymus encroaching on your side lights. Good luck!

Hello, what is your budget per light? and will you replace the flush mount? I like Maxim lighting vivex series fixture because they will not corrode or rust, and I love Maris lighting because it is a solid thick gauge brass that will also hold up.

My suggestion for a Moustache Light over your beautiful front door is that I don’t think it will be easy to restrain your euonymus from constantly engulfing your door side sconces. And I think it would enhance the arched entry. But the projecting sconces that Beverly FLADesiner suggests are completely appropriate. Would you consider gas lights? That would look gorgeous flickering at your front door!

I have no *specific* budget I would prefer something under $400 / light. Is that reasonable? I had not anticipated changing the flush mount but can do that if it will enhance the overall look.

gas lights and foliage, don't really mix I would say. also you have to bring in gas lines, and meet code, that would be $$$$

This is a great price, and the right scale, also durable. Just be aware the fixture you have there now is brass and glass, holds up well, I would try and avoid aluminum or steel.

Don''t forget that in the meanwhile, as a routine maintenance objective, you can trim the foliage back from around the light fixtures. Even with a new light set off of the wall, you may need to do that to some degree. Once per month should take care of it.
