Is it the brass you don’t like? Can you paint it out? Agree the mirrors expand the space.

Not really what you're asking about, but have you tried the bed the other direction? Does headboard fit between the wall and window? The small space between the foot of the bed and the closet doors may not be helping with the small feel.

More to your question, if you wanted to try out a non-reflective concept, you could try covering the mirrors with paper (brown or white to mimic the look of the wood you were considering). It might give you a better idea of how it will affect the light and feel of the room.

Get the dark carpet (yuck) out of there and replace it with medium to light toned wood to start.

It might be tricky to do, but if you're good at DIY you could attempt this idea.

The mirrors do help visually and they could be made more modern by applying black Tremclad paint on the brass. Then to work with this updated look, the bed frame could be painted black and add more modern accessories.

IMO mirrored doors facing a bed are just not good and really how much visual space do you need in a room where you sleep. If budget allowed I would do Ikea Pax in that closet space with the frosted glass doors better storage and a lot more attractive .I would also like the carpet gone for sure and a to scale floor plan would be very helpful.

Very nice! How did you manage not to get spray paint on the carpet when you painted the floor track? Taping never seems that effective.

I actually have very similar closet doors and since the mirror is broken and doesn't "catch" the track anymore, I'd like to replace with new mirrored doors. So your timely post is appreciated! Nice update.

We had to take the track completely off. It was pretty easy for us, just a few screws holding it down. But for sure had to have two people take the doors off!

I like this! It seems like "much less" mirror ... but it'll still make a fairly small room feel large and bright.
