How big are the trays you have planted them in? Do you see a lot of roots coming out of the drainage holes? If it has been 4 weeks and your tray isn't the smallest size, it will probably be OK. Water the soil a bit and the roots will likely come apart a bit easier. If it is really root bound you can spray the roots with some water to loosen the soil but again I don't think you'll need it.

I started them in about a 4 in pot each. I see some roots at the bottom but mostly soil

I wouldn't worry much. Messing with the roots will probably stress them out anyway.
