Lillians Thin Ice is a beauty, but that seedling! Wow! I will say LTI has sat in my garden for two years without a bloom. It has one more year then it is out of here...and it came from Alabama originally. Go figure. Your posts are always beauty, Debra!

Kay - How disappointing that L. Thin Ice hasn't bloomed for you. Maybe it needs a different spot. Did you, by any chance, get it from Katie Lou's Daylilies? I ordered an additional one from there and it didn't live through the winter. Mine came from Avedon in a trade, and it bloomed three weeks after I first received it. I would like to have a whole border of Thin Ice (about five plants) with five plants of Insider Trading planted in front of it.

An interesting group. I have come to appreciate some UF's when they bloom en masse. Lillian's Thin Ice is an example. It just commands attention. Aerial Applique is another nice UF..........There's yellow and then there's gold. I've never tried Bill Norris because it usually looks too gold in pictures not the more mellow warm yellow which is what I favor. Maybe I'll see it one day in person to tell if I like the color or not.......Chilled Orange Sobet is beautiful. One of my favorites of this group. You know I like the pink Carolina Pale Face....... The pattern and colors of Faberge Egg in theory at least catches my eye as did Facemaker, but I've seen it in person and it's not for me......I've enjoyed this group a lot........Maryl

Maryl - I much prefer gold to yellow because of its boldness. For me, if it's a light yellow, put a patterned eye on. It's great that there's something in the daylily world for everyone.

LTI looks wonderful in that clump! How great to have that many bloom at once. Carolina Pale Face is always so pretty-and Aerial Applique really shines in clump form!

Lillian's Thin Ice is lovely and your seedling is putting on a show too. I agree about Bill Norris. It's one of the best saturated yellows I know. It will always have a place in our garden. Euphoric is the other that catches my eye. I have considered getting it for Bob, but Maryott's daylilies often don't do well for us.

Nan - I often think I stopped buying yellows because I had Bill Norris. I never saw one I thought was better. Euphoric has short scapes here and only moderate bud count. It does multiply well. It's probably my favorite orange face in the garden.

Your purple seedling is still on the top of my list today. Such glorious blooms again today! I would also like to see Chilled Orange Sorbet in person. Lillian’s Thin ice had quite a debut today, love it
