You will probably have to spay if you have rust .And some are much more resistant to rust.

There are some daylilies that are more resistant to rust than others but I don't believe anybody has put together a list. Most people in the rust belt have to spray to keep the rust at bay. From what I understand, you never get rid of it, just suppress it. Jamie Gossard does list rust resistance as a feature of some of his daylilies (see his website for Heavenly Gardens). You might also want to check out the daylilies of Brian Reeder at Sun Dragon Daylilies. I know he was working on rust resistant varieties.

I can't recommend any spray for rust because here in Indiana, it dies over winter so we don't spray when we get it.

Thanks so much. I don't like to use a lot of chemicals as I grow some veggies and herbs and also have some plants to attract butterflies and for the caterpillars to eat. I'll have o check on current sprays. I have heard the ones that work are very expensive. When I lived at my other house I tried a couple of the less expensive sprays and they did not work. I just cut leaves now. So the daylilies might have pretty flowers but the plants are not pretty. Maybe I should give up. :(

There was a list compiled a few years ago. Google rust resistance daylilies, and you might find it. The American Daylily Society also might have a list. Even though the daylilies on the list are resistant, it doesn't mean they are totally immune.
