i wish i could see a pic of the whole tree .. but i am figuring.. it is time to divest from this one ...

on my 5 acres.. it might be fun to watch what happens .. but i suspect you dont have the spare room.. and it is probably best to be done with it ...

the cambium layer.. just under the bark of the tree is its vascular system .. and it looks like you took it all off .. or most of it anyway ... it might just be releafing on stored energy .. and then kaput ...

but even if you left some intact from the ground up ... its so minimal ... it probably wouldnt make it anyway ...

to reduce cost.. cut it to the ground.. level.. apply a stump killer.. and buy a statue to set on the stump ... or else have it ground out ...

Is that last photo edited to create that horizontal break of dark and light on the bark that doesn't appear in the other photos? The new leaves don't look unhealthy to me. New leaves don't darken fully for a few months for me. As Ken indicated, if the cambium layer is severely damaged then replacing the tree is probably best (although, you can certainly do bridge grafts across the gaps if you are adept). I've had trees (not citrus as mine are in pots) get gnawed on by vols and be fine with between 1/4-1/3 girdling.
