New Bearss Lime Tree help

last modified: 6 years ago

Hey everyone,

hope everybody is doing well. new to citrus forum but have posted elsewhere on gardenweb.

i just received a Bearss lime tree in the mail that I ordered about a week or so ago. Unfortunately it was in the mail a little long since it was shipped from California to where I live in central NJ. During the trip it lost all of It’s lower leaves and only the top remain.

I was curious how all of you would shape the tree going forward? There is a decent bend in the trunk where a new leader was created. Also, will new leaves grow back on the lower branches? Lastly, when should I prune it to start to shape it? For now I re-potted it and am acclimating to its new environment.

Thanks for the help!

Joe
