white tissue ... in just about any plant ... can burn in the heat of the sun ... it just cant move enough water.. like green tissue ...

so i would sight it.. so its out of the sun during the heat of the day ...

the opposite theory is.. the white tissue has no chlorophyll .. and on a plant that is very white.. if you dont put it in enough sun to offset the white tissue.. it might otherwise.. in very dark circs .. green up ...

soooo .. spin in a circle until you fall down.. and plant it there.. lol ...

Lol Ken, that sounds very doable.

In my climate, this can grow in full, all day sun. In a hotter summer climate, I'd provide at least partial shade in the afternoon. The white tips are only the newest growth....this matures to more of a creamy yellow and in subsequent years will be a pale green. You will lose the coloring if in too much shade.....it actually needs sun to develop the best coloration. But I'll let you decide how much :-)

Mine are in full sun, all day long, on drip irrigation. Never had one burn, even a tiny amount. And I'm in Sonoma County CA with about 15% ambient summer humidity. None of my Cedrus burn in sun, unlike pines, spruces, etc, all of which have to get established before they stop burning in summer. Make sure to give it enough water; it's a prettty low water tree but it will use more in sun, especially when it is getting itself started.
