We had our pool and hardscape renovated 2 years ago. Since the week after completion, after everything was dry, I knew there was something wrong with the completed project. Technically the job was completed, so the company as paid in full, but it looks terrible. The divots in the concrete look terrible day and especially at night. For more than a year I've been attempting to discuss the situation with them, but clearly rectifying the situation is not a high priority for them.

Last year I saw the owner a few times when he would bring potential new clients over to see our completed work, and I would be promised a solution, which never happened. Fast forward to this week, when the owner finally came over to discuss.

The stamping on one half of the deck is OK, the other half is terrible.

The part of the deck that looks OK gets more sun in the morning than the other half. I was told by the owner (only this week), that I should not have expected both half of the deck to have come out the same due to sun vs shade when they were stamping. Which I think is complete bullish*t.

I was here while they were stamping (the owner was not), and I saw concrete stuck to the bottom side of the stamp, causing divots. I attempted to tell the stamper (from across the yard away), but he dismissed me. The owner claimed that there is absolutely no way concrete could get stuck to the bottom of a stamp because of the release powder that was used. I would like anyone's thoughts on this claim. I know what I saw, but I'm not an expert on concrete stamping.

I would very much appreciate professional opinions on what is acceptable in this situation. He left my home this week with our loose verbal agreement (his offer) that he would re-do the concrete job, removing the existing concrete, if I would pay for materials and he pays for labor. I don't yet know what pricing is going to look like, so I will not fully commit to this agreement until I see the numbers. I'm still not happy with the fact that I feel the job was botched but yet I'm going to have to pay for them to rectify the situation. I simply in need of other opinions on if this is, in fact, a botched job.

Side note: part of the reason he wants to please me (after 2 yrs) is that I'm the head of the home owners association of 90 homes and do to the location of my property, anyone can walk by and see my entire yard. I'm an open air showroom for him.
