Beautiful house!

It is a MCM style house and the first thing to change are the door and side light to something MCM I would look at getting a MCM garage door and matching front door style.Remove all the shutters for sure . My house is very similar from the front but we have sliders where your windows are on the right. since our"front" is really the back of the house. I find the stone at the front of the steps a bit too much for a simple style. You could probably eliminate them with a different type of landscaping. I have that corner window too and I love it . Just look up MCM garage doors, and doors and landscaping your home can be amazing if you embrace the style

It’s going to be tricky trying to find a way to marry the street aesthetic with what the bones of the house should be - do you have any money to rethink the 2 columns at the street?

I wondered if anyone else would comment on the brick columns. They are very nicely done, but they really don’t fit this home.

The walkway was a beautiful start in warming it up.

Pay close attention to the hues in the brick walkway. It looks like it has mauve undertones. I would choose a warm gray with mauve undertones to paint and “ground” the house. Perhaps choose a lighter version of the gray to paint the trim.

I would consider a warm white. I think it suits the house. I would also eliminate the shutters and have the Victorian glass replaced with a square, more modern glass. You can do this without replacing the door. I agree with updating the light fixtures to something more modern as well. As far as the garage doors, I wouldn't go ultra modern but something a bit more modern like this. I would keep them the same color as the house though.

Am wishing the columns at the entrance to the walk were spread the full width of the walk.

Would have nothing tall next to the walk. Except a small tree form a small distance from it, helping to mark the entrance

Thank you all for your feedbacks. I rarely use Houzz post and not sure how to reply to each individual comment, but really appreciate your input. I wasn’t sure what type of house this is, and thanks for letting me know that it resonates a MCM style. As per the light fixtures and the columns, I agree they need work. I have a great and reasonable handyman working right now, will definitely ask him about that.

Oh no doubt the shutters have to go. Thanks all for pointing that out, at first I was planning to replace them with bigger, black shutter for a more traditional look. But the trims made it difficult. Now that I’m looking at MCM style the house indeed resonates more with that... what kind of materials for the columns would be better? Or none at all?

No columns but I would regrade the lawn to slope down to the walk rather than have that sort of ditch on the right. MCM front and garage doors plus an interesting color will make it much better. Charcoal gray siding, black trim/garage door and a turquoise front door would be very nice, IMO

Juju Sin, I am not professional. What I post are just personal opinions.

The Victorian door and shutters are out of place and I would remove them. The house itself has no ornamentation. I think a simple landscape would suit the house.

If the foundation shrubs are healthy then keep them. I would remove the round shrubs in the bed along the path. I'd also consider moving the palm type plant near the door to the driveway area.

The bed to the right of the path adds nothing beneficial and I would extend the lawn to the path.

I'd remove the right side column. The other column contains a mail box so I would keep it.

It looks like you do not have a tree. Would they like a tree?
