I've had one for years, and it's never greened up . It's expanded into the sun, one side always scorches. So I don't think too much light is the problem.

Maybe it's sporting.

Bkay- Mine never changed color either, except in Fall when the margins turned beautiful yellow surrounding the white centers. Wondering about the list's definitions. It lists h. 'Blue Ice' too, and the only way that icey blue beauty turns green is if the glaucous bloom gets rubbed off or melts. (so technically it turns "green" but that would be true all the blue ones. Hmmmmmmmm.

Are those greener leaves new ones? Viridescent hostas turn green as the season moves along, not right off the bat. I have seen mention that OLDER leaves turn more green at the END of the season, but we're just beginning here.

My NBC looks so different from yours. Your white area is very centered with clean lines, whereas mine has more like green streaking and some oddly streaked leaves as seen in the photo here. None of my leaves has ever gone green at any time. It’s in 4-6 hours of sun.

I believe you are right, Debra. Even the shape of the leaf is different (mine are more strap shaped). I checked the hostalibrary and they look more like yours. I guess I have a dud, a mislabeled hosta or a different strain. I like the old one better.

I looked back at some old photos from years past, and found one of a NBC that I purchased for my neighbor. It's strap shaped and viridescent, although some photos look better than others. These were taken in 2011.

My NBC also does not turn green. It stays green and white all summer. Mine is located with morning sun. Here is a picture taken last August.
