In front (pink on pink stripe) is Parade Day, lighter pink is Amiga Mia and the white one behind is Iceberg.

Parade Day is a favorite! I almost have to take pictures of it at dusk to capture the shading.

Amiga Mia is pink Buck rose. It was my first Buck rose and had lots of flowers last year. This year the flush is a little disappointing. Will have to see how it repeats. Maybe some of the better known pinks would be better like Sexy Rexy, Quietness or Morden Blush.

The Morden Blush picture that someone else posted is fantastic and makes me wish I had that one.

Iceberg is throwing alot of flowers.

But the bush is kind of sprawly. Maybe one day it will grow more upright and act like a proper rose bush.Hmmm...just realized I should probably check it for broken canes due to the 70+ mph wind driven hail. Maybe that is why it is so sprawly in the middle. Pretty Lady Rose, Sally Holmes and Winnipeg Parks all had canes that were flattened to the ground. Some I had to cut off right away due to wilting and some I am letting bloom because they seemed like they still could and then cut them off.

Denver's Dream isn't doing bad for such a tiny bush. Planted Aug. 2019.

I liked how the flowers aged on this at the green house and they do look nice as older blooms in the garden as well. However, I expected more yellow. Maybe as the weather heats up.

Dick Koster is so pale on it's first blooms. This happened last year and I do not like it at all. I want the vivid pink! Last year they did tend to get more vivid after the first set.

Chuckles was put in 4 years ago and then 2 years ago moved to the shade. It does better in the shade as the blooms were frying quickly in the sun. And it is growing more upright this year and not so much just along the ground. Will it put in a decent showing and grow this year? Inquiring minds want to know.

Their mission was to fill in a border of roses along this walkway. Not quite accomplishing it yet. I do love the brilliant pink and overall coloration of the blooms.

Winnipeg Parks did a second flush on a cane that got flattened by 70+mph hail. After it is done blooming I will cut it off since it is propped up by the rabbit fence and cannot stand on it's own.

Excellent! Let me know how it does vs your other pinks. It was my first Buck rose and I was super impressed but your Sexy Rexy sounds to be a real performer and then I saw the picture of Morden Blush.

Full bush Amiga Mia. There is a decent number of blooms, just not as loaded as some of the others. The overall fullness of the bush is pleasing and the long canes did not get knocked down by the wind driven hail.

Thanks for noticing the name tags. I had fun creating them. They add a bit of color even when nothing is in bloom. I'll have to see how they hold up through the winter.

Parade Day has a light scent. It smells like burnt sweetgrass outside today so I picked a bloom to bring in and give a sniff.

The subject bloom:

For a control rose I cut a Pretty Lady Rose that has a strong scent and brought it in as I couldn't smell anything outside. It is a little stronger than Parade Day but not nearly as strong as it usually is. As a result, Parade Day may be a little stronger than I'm reporting and I just can't smell it today. With the wildfire smoke it stuffs up my sniffer and makes my nose run.

Hypnotized appears to be have it's mature bloom form. The pink is
different than my other pinks. It has a warmer tone to the pink. This
picture was taken without any sun on the rose.

The bloom is a pretty good size. Not disappointed at all in this bloom.

The TV just showed a baby bear burned by the wildfire with all his paws bandaged up. Poor guy. 7 fires burning in the state.

We put in Above All to replace Pinata that died (have not changed the sign yet so ignore the Pinata sign, that is Above All). She just got a cheater (meaning she had the bud when I bought her) bloom. It is perfect for my location. Very bright and beautiful.

And Altissimo just has one. This bush is in the 30 yr old range but has poor winter water, under a deck and the eave of the house, and limit sun.

The red of Altissimo and orange of Above All look really nice next to each other. Around the corner is Love Song in lavender. It also looks good with the other two.

Love Song has had two blooms which is about what it had all of last year. It is in too much shade.

Beautiful roses and awesome name tags! But 70miles per hr. winds that"s awful! And someone mentioned a wildfire scary, is it near you do you need to evacuate? Scary!

Oh and that poor bear! Fires are horrible!

We are in the Denver area so protected. Our air quality suffers but that is about it.

I have a few of those, but not most, so I’ll be happy to see how they mature. The winds really Have been Horrible this spring. Between the late deep freeze, wind and hail, it’s a miracle anything is doing well.

I'm glad you mentioned Chuckles. I was thinking just yesterday that it really was looking very pretty. It was one I put in the first year I was growing. And it was in full sun. Every bloom that appeared fried that day. I left it for a second year thinking it just didn't have enough roots. But same thing happened. So then it was moved into full shade. It still didn't do much that year but the blooms stayed around longer. Here it is the second year in shade. Growing a little more upright and lots of beautiful blooms. Still not filling in (zone 4 so should not die back every year but it does) but starting to not just grow a few twigs along the ground.

I absolutely adore the color. Every time I go to High Country Roses I say I would buy that one based on the color if I didn't already have it.

Vapor has been very patient and encouraging to hang in there and I'm glad I did based on what I am seeing right now. Hopefully it continues to fill in.

Now I'm looking sideways at my Fourth of July. The blooms are exhibiting crispy petal edjes right after they emerge. Hard to tell from this photo. So far Fourth of July has been a disappointment. This is it's second year so maybe next year.

Lady in Red is doing a flush of sorts. It has had trouble with what I think are rabbits. A number of the blooms were half eaten and one of the canes with a flower on it was bitten off. So it got a rabbit fence again. I had removed it thinking it was large enough to be safe but it wasn't.

I love the rich red of Lady in Red and am regretting not picking a red hybrid tea. Maybe next year I will add one.

Calico Gal is tossing out a second round of blooms.

Souvenir De St. Anne's has it's first bloom, which is especially exciting on ones I have never seen before. This was put in May 2020 so just a baby.

Parade Day is still managing to put on a parade like performance. I think this is my favorite rose at this point. It has not paused yet.

Dainty Bess is having it's own little flush. Disappointed that she hasn't gotten more size on her. But maybe in a few years. Planted 8/18.

This was my big Sally Holmes but it froze to the ground last year.

So she is now a little tiny Sally Holmes with probably a good sized root system.

And this is Robusta. Recovered amazingly well from bring roasted to the ground with the flame thrower. Practically back to her old size. She has more blooms than usual. Maybe she needs to be chopped back more often.

The Fairy, past her original flush. She is 30 yrs old and froze back alot last year when she normally doesn't. Also early blooms were more white than pink which seems unusual but I haven't really been keeping track.

They are all so beautiful but your Dainty Bess particularly stands out to me, I haven't really come across that one before. How is the repeat?

I think it has flowers all summer long, just not as thick as this. However I over look it quite a bit because it is pale and delicate so tends to play background to some of my louder roses.

Oh my gosh, your signs are so pretty.

I am really happy to see your roses with rocks/stones because I planted Augusta Louise in my ”alpine”/rock garden, thinking she would look pretty there, but I have been sort of nervous, not knowing if it was good spot for her. Going by all your pretty roses, she should do just fine.

I also think she should be fine. When I walk around my neighborhood most of the roses in the front of houses are in rock beds. Mulch simply doesn't hold up here. It blows away fairly quickly so for any of the display areas most people have rocks.

Have you had any trouble with Japanese beetles yet? I keep looking nervously at my Morden's Sunrise bushes, as they were listed as one of the rose cultivars most favored by JBs. :(

My two most favored by Japanese Beetles, Golden Wings and Sally Holmes have gotten them. None of the others. My neighbor has a Morden Sunrise and at times has commented on how it is thick with them in past years so the beetles definately have their preferences.

Easy on the Eye's had it's first bloom. There is a whole spray on the way. The bloom is alot smaller than I though they would be. But I think the colors are pretty.

Amiga Mia is doing it's usual constant blooming. This was her posing prettily with her name tag this morning.

She has some on top also.Whole bush.

Fred Loads is going to be added when we take out Hypnotized.

Easy on the Eyes is starting it's flush. This one is so pretty in person but I'm not sure the camera captures it's beauty.

I find it frustrating that my pictures don't capture the beauty of what I see in my roses. Your Easy on the Eyes blooms are so pretty!!

Neil Diamond grew a cane and I got a bloom. It is pretty but didn't last long in this heat.

I saw someone else post that they cut their blooms before the Japanese Beetles got them. So a couple of hours ago I went out and cut what wasn't damaged and a couple of buds to see if they open. Winnipeg Parks is so bright that I took this with a flash as it over saturates the camera otherwise.

Cutting before the Japanese Beetles can get them is working. So far Lady in Red, Dick Koster, The Fairy and Denver's Dream haven't had any beetles so while there are some in the dishes below I am leaving most of them on the bush.

This is Calico Gal. I don't think she was getting enough water so her blooms have a the old fashioned frilly look that some of the other roses I see posted on here have.

Golden Wings is very prolific and attracts the most Japanese Beetles. So I cut the blooms off alot. But it also has honey bees so I leave some.

This area of my house has a very nice smell.
