I don’t suppose this is my old neighbor Linnea from beat 1421? If so, hello from DC!

The weather could definitely be affecting her appetite, but, is she still eating her dry food and drinking plenty of water? If she is, I would just offer her pets and scratches when she cries for wet food and dole it out every few days instead of every day. It could be the weather, or she could be tired of the food itself. What it sounds like for sure is that she knows she gets attention when she cries for the food (what cat doesn’t?)

If she’s not eating her dry or wet, I would definitely have the vet check it out. Cats are decidedly self-interested, neglecting food altogether warrants an investigation.

Maybe she doesn't care for whatever canned food you are putting out. Our cat was ridiculously finicky, only ate certain ones. Some love fishy foods, some don't. I'm not suggesting you put out a buffet for her as we did our cat. We wasted a lot of food.

She is eating the dry food the way she normally does. When she looks at the wet food and won't touch it, she then goes right to nibbling the dry.

It's the same wet food she normally likes. I have been sticking to her favorite flavors.

Water drinking is normal.

I experimented last night. Left only a teaspoon of dry for nighttime. To let her get hungry. In the morning she met me at my door meowing (she only meows for food). We went to her feeding place and I offered her the wet. She sniffed it, then went back to pacing. I then gave her dry and she ate it immediately.

There's no doubt they get tired of the same food over and over. We have to change up the flavors, and the texture (pate), of the brand we feed. Sometime my cats love fish flavored and then the next week they'll decide they want nothing to do with it and want turkey or chicken.

I also keep a different dry food on hand and offer it now and then, but they always come back to their Natural Balance Original.

Our cats would always go “off” their wet food in the summer. They were on LID Rx food, so wet and dry were the same food year round. Once the weather got cooler, they’d go back to eating more of their wet food.

(A/C on all summer, heat on in the winter, so it’s not like the temps inside were dramatically hot or cold at any point)
