What colour is the carpet? Hard to tell in your picture. Is the dresser staying? It looks like something is on the wall facing the window but I can't see what.

Do you want a TV in the room? A chair for reading? Anything else? Do one or two people sleep here?

I don't see that pink and gray would look good with your wardrobe colour. I think greens and blues look better. Dusty shades, nothing too dark or too clear. Maybe choose a bedspread first with some of these colours, then pick a wall colour to go with it. Easier than painting first then trying to find a good bedspread or duvet colour.

The color of the carpet is like a dark grey. The dresser is staying and the thing facing the window on the wall is a radiator.

it's just me sleeping in the bed. I'll leave the tv for the living/kitchen area of the apartment, but I would like to have some sort of place in my room to organize/do my makeup, I'm thinking of getting some shelves? You've given me some good points to think about.

You need some art for over your bed that makes it look welcoming to you, whether that's a sunset beach or some rustic leaf prints, or whatever. You need a real overhead light fixture to replace the hanging bulb. And you need something on the opposite wall -- a large piece of art, a chair next to the dresser, etc. I personally would also want a sconce under the built-ins so taht I could read in bed, but that's up to you.

Instead of adding shelves, look for a narrow white table surface and chair to use for your makeup near your small dresser, which I would also paint white (try Ikea). Use a white roman shade on the window. Replace the light with a chandelier. Paint the walls a very light grey tinted white, and use a deep pink color with white on your bedding. I love pink, but I agree that pink walls may not work with the wood units. If you're willing to paint the shelving white, you can use a soft pink on the walls. That honestly sounds really good! @calidesign I'm not able to paint the wood as I'm renting, so would the deep pink color suit the wood? or should I decide on a new color scheme?

I don't think deep pink will look good with your brown wood. I'd go with more of a peach or coral/salmon if you don't want to use blues or greens.

Will you be painting the walls? If not, what is the wall colour? It looks different in different lights. take a picture of the wall in several lights (daylight, nighttime) with a piece of white paper in the photo so we can see the true colour. Will you be replacing the green curtains?

I just looked at your inspiration pictures. Those rooms almost all have 100% white painted wood, so your colour scheme will look different in a room with quite a bit of stained wood.

Since you're renting, I would just get the desk/table, chair, artwork, and bedding - all of which you can take with you. Choose the bedding and art based on what you love - it doesn't have to look perfect with the wood. Pink and gray would be fine. You might also add a framed mirror across from the window or to use with your artwork the large blank wall to add some shine and depth to the room.

@partim I'm allowed to paint the walls, the color at the minute is magnolia. it's like an off white color. I can take the photos with the white piece of paper beside it in different lightings. and yeah I will be replacing the green curtains, there are other curtains here that the landlord has left, they're a blue color. I can take a photo of them and show you also when I get the chance.

I like the idea of coral/salmon color.

@calidesign thanks for the tip of the framed mirror across from the window and idea with the desk/chair, I like the sound of that and will try to do something with it.
