Night mforr, nice chat tonight, trouble maker LOL, TTYL
  • 13 years ago
Lol, Ms Roo! I actually have to amend my house history. I forgot that the land it sits on actually used to be a (pretty crappy) nine-hole golf course.

    3. Me
    2. Crappy nine-hole golf course
    1. Farmer's field.
Well y'all get a good night's sleep while I try to attempt something here - now Kd has shamed me into it.
Probably roo, I would too if I were them, whatever happened to eternal rest? ;)
Gee fancy you picking a golf course to live on!
The only thing interesting about the crappy golf course, is that the guy who owned and managed it was an ex-boyfriend of a friend of mine in high school, and after she broke up with him, he tried to kill me with his crappy yellow corvette.
    Yikes!!!!
    Yeah. He was crazy.
Roo, what's on the agenda today
    1. Wake up.
    2. Get DVDs back to Library.
    3. Stay awake.

This virus has taken the stuffing out of me and has me napping half the day so consequently I don't sleep at night. Fell asleep at 10 to 7 this morning and woke at 11am. I DON'T NEED THIS!!!! Of course now totally stuffs the day. DVDs due back to Library today, but now I am into the "after school timezone" so parking will be impossible till at least 4pm.

Think I will try some ironing - see if I can stay upright.

Sorry to hear you're under the weather, Ms Roo... I hope you feel better soon. Viruses stink. I was just talking to my neighbour and she is still coughing after three weeks of battling some kind of virus that they can't do anything about.
That is the worst thing about viruses, you really have to give into them and let your body heal itself but life just doesn't make that possible. The upset tum seems to have calmed, in fact I don't know when I was last so hungry but I have to be careful what I eat so it doesn't set it all off again, the worst thing is the woozieness. I was shopping yesterday and felt I was dream walking beside myself. It was so weird and I have lost all ability to think straight.

Of course this was the week I had cleared the decks to get back to the gym. Maybe I'm allergic to that :))
@Roo...So sorry you are under the weather..You are absolutely correct..viruses do have to run their course. Try to rest, drink as much water as u can stand, and use as needed over the counters as needed for symptoms...Hope u feel much better very soon!!!!!

Phew. Just got home and got caught up. Only a few folks had to be transported out of the park with most of the people we saw refusing to be transported. A lot of fainting today. It was very warm at the site with very little wind and an attendance record set at over 100,000 people through the gates on the Monday this year. Thankfully the weather held out (thunderstorms are rolling in right now) and we had awesome weather.

I was convinced I was going to marry Wayne... I'm still waiting...
Thanks Jayme. You know "rest" and "drink" just don't belong in one sentence ............... certainly not with my bladder.
Glad your day wasn't too bad Robin. Sounds a huge event and a lot of fun.

I just wish it was compulsory for events like this to have free water stations, I'm sure it would solve so many problems. Don't know what it is like over there, but here they charge an arm and a leg for a bottle of water at events and then complain about all the plastic that has to be gotten rid of. Water stations where you could fill your own bottle would just save so much money in so many ways.
I agree. I think some of our responses would be alleviated by something like that. We usually have quite a few heat related or dehydration type faintings that we go to, cool them off, get fluids into them and they're right like rain.
But I'm beat from being in the sun all day. Going to wash off the bug spray then hitting the hay.

    Feel better Roo. :)
Hi all... Roo... sure am missing you and others... not really in to hocky... But I can understand the game...
    Kind of like footsy... Lol
I know when I was working in a public sector job I was always jumping up and down to the bosses about looking at the big picture. They would try to save money on things that resulted in spending twice as much on others. If water was freely available you guys would have less work and stress, you would save on equipment and supplies and then savings on cleaning up afterwards would be huge.

Very excited at the moment, getting some lovely photos through of Miss 7 and her swimming trophies. Looks like we have another swimmer in the family - very handy for college scholarships. Just completed her first series of meets, she had to swim a double age group and it took 8 year olds to beat her, a couple of them had even turned 9 after the cut off date. Great results considering she has never raced before - couldn't even dive a week before the 1st meet.

Hi Patty, haven't felt like too much chatting but just getting so bored with myself. My girls played hockey at school so I never really got into it and ice hockey is pretty much non existent here .......... naturally, no snow.

Roo-I will be finishing up the room finally, feel like it is spiraling out of control, plus thinking of a road trip to GA/NC.
Last break I did the living room.
Know that feeling well, I have so much to get moving on finishing up. OK, indulge me here, what is GA/NC?
Got to get to the library.
got no idea what all the chatter is about.. but i want to share my little lamb... aww isnt she adorable! the smallest lamb we've had... anyone got a name for her?
Hi Lee. We are the OLLDS - Old Ladies Love Design - are all regular users of Houzz and we meet here each day for all manner of chat so you are forgiven for having no idea of what this is about. I'm the only Aussie here, the rest are mostly from the US and Canada, so they are all asleep now. Are you a country girl?

Your lamb is absolutely adorable, I hope she thrives.

Names - working around her black hood which could be considered a camouflage she could be Cammie for short or if you consider her black face a mask, she could be Maschera, which is mask in Italian or Careta which is a Spanish word for mask. I like Car-eta.
6:10 AM here in SE. still dark.
they need to have 10 ft fan misters at these events to keep the crowds cool. we used them at equestrian events to keep the horses from overheating and found people crowded to use them.
welcome lee. adorable lamb. where are you? it seems late in the yr for her arrival.Careta is a good suggestion roo.
oh, just thought to look at lees profile. australia. so now i understand the timing.
hey roo, if lee sticks around you maysomeone to chat with while we're sleeping.
Roo, it's Georgia and North Carolina that Angela was talking about.
    STK started 8/6 :)
Morning Mo, yes, I had checked Lee's profile going by the time she posted and she is a fellow NSWelshman - or should I say woman. I had a buddy one time who lived fairly near me but she disappeared.

Thanks Michele, you have to bear with me I can pretty much rattle off the whole 50 States but still working on the initials. Bit confusing when two letters can be 1 name or 2.
yep youre right!... NSW it is! not far from sydney but own property on the blue mountains...
im a country gril bred but work in the city....
the lamb i should mention, is TINY the smallest we've had, shes a twin too :) careta is a cute name for her, i will log it in the book>> thanks ppls!
must say.. im young .. not old yet:):) but love houzz.. my favourite website!
i love usa, just been there a month ago... would live there if it was easier to get in!
How lovely to be in the mountains - I love winter up there, it is so envigorating, I find Sydney cold very depressing. I had a lot of family in Springwood, back in the days when it was mostly farming and spent a lot of my childhood there. I'm on the Northern Beaches now - next best place to be.

I keep looking at the lamb, she is so cute, just hope you don't get a late snowfall. Look after her. What are you calling her twin? I'm a bit worried this weather is just too warm - 24 today was ridiculous - it either means it will turn really cold in a few weeks or (perish the thought) we are in for a very early l-o-n-g hot summer.

You don't HAVE to be OLLD to join us, it is just we might get a bit boring. My second Joey had no problems getting into the US - she married a Yank!!!

lee, i think it's actually a pretty good age mix. a few men but we could use more for balance. i believe some or maybe most(?) of the original namers of this group have moved over to AARP in a private group.
Yes, this is a very open website and a lot of them got a bit nervous about it. AARP is a controlled site and password protected so very private.
Lee, if you want to join in, this is today's thread - well for us it is - over there they are just waking up to today

Hello Lee! I love your little lamb! Lambs are soooo cute. I once held a brand new lamb and I have never been able to force myself to try a lamb dish. I just can't do it!
good for u KD. now if only more people could hold a calf maybe they wouldn't eat veal.
I won't eat veal either. The thought of eating baby anythings is really hard for me.
Hi Lee...Welcome!! :) Beautiful baby lamb u have there....Kimdee...Never have eaten lamb or veal, I'm with u!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well we breed these to eat at 5 months..... absolutely beautiful meat... but yes.. takes a while to get use to eating them.. so we dont name the ones we are going to cut up!
sorry should have said it was the Goulburn part of the Blue Mountains.. but still CHILLY! its 800m above and snows...
hey going back... my cousin and TWO best friends have married yanks!!! :):) so im used to time changes etc.. sometimes living in uSA time more than my own..!
I used to love lamb - as an Aussie we are raised on it, it is like our staple diet - but as I got older it just suddenly started making me ill and I cut out cuts after cuts till I got down to the short loin chops or cutlets and then I just couldn't handle them either. It was really weird - Sam Kekovich would definitely hate me.

I only equate Blue Mountains with area around the railway line over them, but to describe Goulburn as chilly is a bit of an understatement isn't it. You work in Sydney? From Goulburn??
