Consider painting the built in on the right of the fireplace the same color as wall color instead of trim color. I think that would help the fireplace stand out more. I know that's not the question you asked. I'd be inclined to live with the fireplace without decoration for a while before adding anything else. It's a very cool fireplace and I'd be reluctant to drill into it to hang anything.
