Master bedroom help needed!

My bedroom needs some help. This setup/junky furniture was only supposed to be temporary, but here we are 6 years later.

Another view. The empty wall across from
    The bed.

Do you have a walk-in closet for your clothes? Where do you store them? Are you planning to buy dressers or bureaus or nightstands? Do you watch TV in this room? The room appears to be generous in size, so you could create a lovely master bedroom, but I think you need to invest in some major items. What’s your budget and how do YOU envision this room?

Yes the walk in closet is also very large and next to the full size mirror. I was thinking perhaps a dresser just to have something on that wall across from the bed. No TV in the bedroom. I don’t have a budget in mind as I’m just seeing what I need. New bed and new nightstands for sure! And a rug to warm the space up.

Have you tried different layouts before or has the bed always been on that wall? I'm wondering if it would make sense to have it against the windows. If you can share a drawing of the room layout and dimensions as well as the size of your bed, I'm sure Pros will chime in with suggestions. NancyD asked the all important questions: "What’s your budget and how do YOU envision this room?"

ETA: I wouldn't buy a dresser just to fill a wall. The darn things aren't cheap. :) Don't have anything in your room you don't actually need for a compelling reason. There are other ways to fill walls. Murals and wallpaper are two things that come to mind. Can be as expensive as a dresser but you don't need to dust it as often. :)

Great point. A new bed alone is so expensive! Nope never had the bed anywhere else. Not sure it would fit where the window are, then even if it did I would worry the rest of the room would be wide open. I’ll have to dig out a floor plan with dimensions.

It’s hard to suggest without knowing room‘s dimensions for layout, your style, color and light or dark furniture preferences. This is not easy, so looking at inspiration pictures may help define what you like and need. I think the first step is to decide on bed’s location, so you can then figure out the rest.

Bed may fit in the alcove on a side wall or under window. At other end of room, add a rug, bench and your mirror for use as a small dressing area on side with window and storage opposite

If bed is kept where you have it, add a dresser or armoire opposite. Use alcove as a sitting/tv/reading area or for yoga for instance

Also consider second hand and you may find some really solid pieces that you could refinish.
