Beautiful garden border! Those hostas sure are lively looking, with their wavy leaves. Good choice for lining the front of the bed. They tie the whole thing together nicely, and add pizzazz. I love it.

Look great! To my eye, they have a cooling, calming effect, they kind of look like they're gently in motion with the wavy leaves -- great choice as an edger!

I can tell what you're talking about though :-) I blame the cold spring, especially the nasty May , for so many things being late. Here, clematises are particularly late and some seem to have died entirely. And we desperately need some rain here - have you been getting any up there? There has been 60% chance of rain most days during this heatwave but there hasn't been any. I hope you got some of what missed us :-) Enjoy your little treasures...!

I hear ya 'woody'. It is rare that we need to resort to using city water in June for watering my plants as I can almost always use rain accumulated in our two rain barrels. But I reluctantly I had to turn on the taps for the past week. BUT unlike you we got a hard half hour rain on Sunday and then similarly again on Monday so everything is looking really good and the barrels are close to full again. (It must be a bit frustrating that you are a stone's throw from that big wet lake but all to no avail.)

The pictures are back! Looking good... I particularly like the second picture where you can see the variegated Solomon’s Seal (I think that’s what it is....) with the hostas. The two variegations work well together and the white hydrangea ( I think...) starting to bloom also adds a nice element of unifying repeat colouring.

Those Little Treasures look beautiful. So did mine for a few years. Then it came up with only a couple of leaves, which didn't thrive, and it eventually died. I didn't replace it because I'd heard others had had the same experience. If I am able to buy a little house here, I will try some new minis, like "Kanzi" and such. Right now, my balcony is chock full to the rafters.

We finally got some much needed rain. It was dry as dust here.

Concur with those who say it looks great. It really does look great!!! So what is the problem! If Little Treasure were a big hosta I expect it would be called Big Treasure!

What a beautiful border. Green and white give such a peaceful vibe. you must not have a slug problem. Our PNW weather has been so wet that the slugs have made swiss cheese of all my hostas. and anything else they can get their thousands of tiny teeth Into...

Cercis47, we have been having this conversation on some other threads, so let me share the information. Now that your hostas are Swiss cheese most people would say you’ve lost the battle with the slugs. (This same thing happened to me last year). So here’s how to prevent losing the war next year. In the fall, after your hostas melt or you cut them back, do a vinegar or ammonia drench on each plant. Mix 1 part vinegar or ammonia, with 9 parts water. You can mix a higher solution if you like (up to 20% if you like). Then go around the yard and drench each plant. It’s tedious but it works. The ground could be damp or not, it didn’t matter for me. This solution will kill slug s and any eggs laid. THEN—-you must do the same thing in spring just as the pips are coming up. Make sure two weeks latter that any late pips get the treatment as well as any new plants. I do not have any slug problems this year! I keep checking, but none so far.

Now it’s not that late in summer, you could do a drench now if you want. I would cut back damaged leaves even if it’s all of them and and drench them. I don’t know how many you have. It will kill slugs, eggs and cutworms but not injure other plants. Otherwise get prepared for fall!

rouge..I love it..your photos are magazine worthy..I had 5? maybe 6? Little Treasures..now I have zero..it makes me feel a little better to hear that some of you lost LTs too..mine were thin..very few leaves..mine were not at all like yours..

*If* I did lose them I would need to come back to the group and ask for suggestions regarding a replacement border plant!

rouge..I have lots of hostas (500+) just a few have been disappointing..your beautiful border gets more sun than the location where my Little Treasures were planted..mine were small clearance plants..they never took off..then eventually went away..yours are here to stay!!!
