Traps or shotguns both work well. Don't know of any repellents other than a guard dog. They are not nocturnal animals so put the trap out in the morning and bring it in at dusk to prevent catching something else like a skunk. They are supposed to really like cantaloupe. You will need a big trap as they can get 20+ pounds.

Sometimes they'll dig their burrow under a fallen tree stump, they don't travel very far so will set up shop near a food source (one year I found one inside my fenced garden and it burrowed under my sweet potato vines). If you can locate it's hole then smoke bombs work well too (from hardware stores). Just have 2 buckets of dirt ready to cover the holes (it may have a back door) once you toss in the bombs.
