I wouldn’t want to do it incorrectly and worsen its condition :/

.You can cut back mint hard. And it will appreciate a hard trim by bushing out. Just cut back to right above a leaf node.

Yes. You can’t cut it ’incorrectly’. But it’s best to cut just above a leaf node to avoid a stub of stem. Be bold.

Cutting at the lines would be fine. But it must have plenty of light and sufficient water, nutrients and space to regrow healthily.

I thought I’d share a bit of an update! I decided to trim my mint plant 1-2 weeks ago, and it slowly starting to look more decent. Although I have noticed a few grouped leaves with white spots, and some others with brown. Does that mean anything in particular? :/ I also find that the overall green color of the plant is a bit on the pale spectrum, a green almost like an unripe lime.. Unless that is a characteristic to this specific mint specie? After some research, I did fertilize it for the first time last week, but it did not change anything that I can see, yet. And I may as well mention that before trimming, I happened to remove a few yellowing leaves on several occasions.

Light green leaves are fine, it is just fresh new shoots which will darken as they mature and get bigger.

The brown spots are likely due to direct sun and can be discarded. If they became widespread and accompanied by yellowing of the area it might be a disease in which case you would likely have to bin the plant.

Fingers crossed it is just too much direct sun burning the leaf.
