Victory has been a plant looking for a place to die since I bought it. It's been in a prime location;, morning light, a 10 gallon spinout bag, and enriched soil, for 5 or 6 years. It hasn't grown a bit, and this year only has two small distorted leaves. I dug it up. Great root system, just no leaves. It's in a pot, but if it doesn't get better by fall, it's compost.

Trifecta can join it. No growth in 6 years, and this year all the leaves died. No sign of new ones, small roots.

Great Escape was one of my favorites. Loved the frosty blue and ivory colors. But it hasn't grown either, and this year the ivory edges melted. Moved it to a shadier spot, fingers crossed. Looks a lot like Blue Ivory....

Camelot and Tokudama Aureonebulosa are at least 10 years old. The best I can say is that they're alive. Moved both to a sunnier spot last year. No sign of improvement yet.

As you can tell, I don't give up easily. But sometimes you just get a plant that wants to die.

This year it’s Cherry Berry. What a miserable choice that was. No substance no growth, last year the rabbits liked it. It’s a few puny leafs now , it’s a goner.

Last season Dawns Early Light gave ME the finger. I moved it from too much sun to a shadier spot, never came back........pouf it left town

BTW ... the theory of beating or scratching the roots was from bruce banyai ... his idea was that the plant would release survival/growth hormones in response to the threat .. and trigger growth .. and i did it.. and it worked .. besides.. it made me feel better ... lol

the driveway part is all me .. lol .. teach that batrastard a lesson ... lol...

Uh, Ken, the part about showing them who is boss is all yours, but the driveway inspiration comes from Bruce and his mother Pauline. (Confinement is messing with your memory!) ;-)

Last year I separated out a Halcyon from one of my Junes. I was actually left with part of the crown with great roots. I planted it and protected it so it would not get stepped on. Anyway it started to send up some nice leaves rather quickly. I was sure it would come up nicely this year. But, I was quite mistaken. There are a few leaves that are smaller than Teeny Weeny Bikini. They look like little spaghetti noodles. Sooooo, I may give it until next year to see what happens, otherwise it goes.

One year they look like they might be coming around. Then the next they shrink again. This has been going on for 6 or 7 years.

Linda, I must admit that 'Blue Ivory' has been slow as molasses for me as well, and I mean slow. I've had it planted in one spot for almost 10 years and this is the first year it has shown me 4 shoots! When all's said and done I think it plain isn't happy with where it is and it's a little closer than I'd like it to be to a sizable 'Rainforest Sunrise' and come next spring latest I'll dig them both up as I rather suspect their root systems to be majorly intertwined, may well do that over the next couple of days matter of fact, it needs a better setting. Long time ago I had a 'Fragrant Blue' in pretty much the same location and it wasn't happy and live up to its potential until I moved.

Oh, I forgot one, Thunderbolt has shrunken down to the size of a peanut from what was at least a half gallon pot 3 years ago. If it doesn’t perk up and grow, it’s out!

I've already lost some mentioned here, Trifecta, Great Escape, Thunderbolt.

Remember Me is my problem hosta this year. What a disappointing little runt it is! This year two tiny leaves. I've potted it up and it's in my hosta ICU, which doesn't have a great recovery record. I forgot about scratching its roots or throwing it on the driveway, so I'm going with verbal abuse to see if that helps, lol.
