A while back I got an all gold sport of Gabriel's Wing by mistake. My first thought was it HAD to be named Gabriel's Horn. ( https://www.houzz.com/discussions/5354056/not-exactly-what-i-ordered ) I kept hearing rumors it would be introduced as Gabriel's Harp and saying, no, Gabriel is famous for his horn, not a harp.

To my great joy, I see it's now on the market as Gabriel's Horn. So here he is in all his sun burned glory. Not GH's fault- This is the first time it's scorched. We had a cool cloudy May and then temps in the 90s and full sun for two weeks in June. Lots of things got fried. It's a tough plant - Gabriel's Wing froze to the ground in April, and Gabriel's Horn didn't have any damage. Not bad for starting as a tiny one leaf plant.

Very cool. I picked up a little 3 leafed Wundergold this year. Now on its way to 6 leaves still in a pot. I think its viridescent. I wonder how similar it will be to Gabriel's Horn. Hopefully a lot judging by the look of yours. Is GH lutescent or viridescent? I checked the Hosta Library and it lists Gabriel's Gold but when you click on the DB stuff it says, "...maybe you mean Gabriel's Horn". Why yes, thank you. That's exactly what I meant.

It's viridescent. This spring it was the most beautiful shade of butter yellow. It practically glowed. Now it's starting to get greener areas. I put it in more light than it probably should have to speed up growth. In a shadier spot it might get all green.

Wundergold sounds a lot like Gabriel's Horn. It was one tiny leaf when I got it, and up to 6 by the end of the year. This is year 3, and it's got a second eye. Two thumbs up for great growers.

Yup, my marker says Gabriel's Wing Gold. Now it has the perfect name, I have to get that changed. Next thing I'm wishing for is a white rimmed version called End of Days. Hey, it worked once. (BG)

I could have sworn that was a picture of Land of the Giants “Elegance,” that I have in my front yard. I bought two. One of them is blooming but the other has more more leaves. Sorry I can’t really get good pictures right now. So I wonder whether Gabriel’s Horn was used to help create Elegance. Here’s the best photo I have.

Here’s the back side of the leaf, with my walker in the background. Good Lord, I hope Ken doesn’t see this! I’ll be in trouble!!

You be careful, djacobz. I know it's hard not to visit your hosta babies, but no leaning over.

They do look alike, but Gabriel's Horn is an all gold sport of Gabriel's Wing that showed up when GW was tissue cultured. There are only so many ways for a hosta to look, and lots of look alikes. So enjoy your lovely Elegance.

I'm a sucker for blue and white. Must have 5 nearly identical blue with a white edge hostas, all with different names. Blue Ivory, Great Escape, Frosted Dimples and Frosty Ribbons- although that last one is the only good grower.
