do you see any actual damage??? .. this would be an indication if predatory .. or just hiding because they seem to be the same color as the eggplant ...

Posting for a friend, I've asked them to describe the damage.

The guy on the bottom is actively sucking that eggplant--you can see that he's got his proboscis inserted. It might not be significant or noticeable damage, but that bug is feeding.

A specific ID would be easier with a location.

It looks like some form of Squash Beetle to me..... perhaps Anasa tristis
