More glorious babies today! I love the color on the last seedling, great pink. It looks to me that the Rubber Maid X Dearest Valentine White has a bit of a yellow edge? (Cool!) Your Zuzu x Dearest babies are very, very nice. Looks like another Christmas morning today! Rosie’s Cotton Ribbons look great in your garden.

Wonderful! Love all the "babies". Rosie Cotton's Ribbons sure has a nice set of teeth. I hope DV looks like that here this year. Still no scapes but I'm sure they will show up soon.

I like the lavender seedling, and instant rebloom is great! Wonderful color on the last one. Warm in Winter really has a nice pattern

Sherry - the white Rubber Maid X Dearest Valentine has a bit of yellow gold on the edge, but not much. This is the second year for all these seedlings to bloom, and they have been blooming for at least a week now. I just waited until now to post them. They would be considered M or ML bloomers.

Rosie looks wonderful-what color and teeth! I am sure you were like a madwoman with pollen in your hand from Warm in Winter-what a pattern. The seedlings all are looking good! I like the lavender and hope it continues to improve-love the last one also!

I like the clean look of ZuZu's Treasure. A simple bagel form in your picture with a sweet lavender pink color. If the color would only hold in my heat. Alas, that's always the problem with pinks here.........Memphis has great form, but those southern bred beauties don't seem to last all that long here....Nan's looks really good, and everything else is nice too except the Floyd Cove pattern. Just not my cup of tea.............Maryl

What a beautiful group of seedlings you are getting from Dearest Valentine! I love the lavender one and am glad that its stats are improving for you. We are finding that many of ours keep improving even after we have registered them. I also love the pink seedling.

I am glad Rosie is blooming for you. It definitely is not an early morning or cool morning opener. The flowers here have been huge this year and the color even deeper. I just wish it were taller. I hope it reblooms for you. Ours do even in our dry sandy soil.

Rosie Cotton's Ribbon's name is a reference to an event in the movie The Return of the King (the Lord of the Rings trilogy). After the ring is destroyed, Frodo and Samwise, my favorite character, are lying on a big rock with the lava from Mt. Doom flowing around them. They think they are going to die. Sam thinks back to his homeland and the girl he would have liked to marry. Her name is Rosie Cotton and he remembers her dancing with ribbons in her hair. We thought the color of the flower would be the color of a ribbon a girl would wear.

We were going to name one Samwise the Brave, but we didn't reserve it and Brian Reeder beat us to it. So instead we named it Bucklebury Ferry, also a reference to the Lords of the Rings.

Here is a picture of Rosie Cotton's Ribbons X Red Eyed Queen. The bloom is quite large but not as rosy or toothy as it's mom. It is, however, the maiden bloom, so we'll see how it matures.

By the way, Dearest Valentine has scapes, but clumsy me broke off the top of one of them while we were weeding. We redid one of the beds (since Bob was working remotely and had a little time on his hands) but after we replanted it, we neglected to Preen it (except for a couple of rows) so we had to weed it before we could mulch it.

Nan - I'm so glad you finally saw the photo of Rosie Cotton's Ribbons! I was really pleased with the bloom, even though this first year the plant is so short. I couldn't resist putting its pollen on something, so I crossed it with Hanson's Strawberry Alarm Clock, which was blooming nearby. Thanks for the story behind the name. I do recall that part in Lord of the Rings, but I didn't retain Samwise's girlfriend's name. Samwise was an extremely endearing character, and I can see why you wanted to name a daylily after him. I'm glad to know you have scapes on Dearest Valentine!

Maryl - Zuzu's Treasure is a lavender pink and it does have some color left at the end of a 99 degree day. Not much color, but some, and it's one that doesn't melt in the heat. It has heavy substance.

Kate, Nancy, and Sherry - The color on the Pink Aloha seedling is nice. I'm hoping the plant habit will be as nice as the bloom next year. It's in prime real estate.

I really like the first near white seedling - and sounds like it is a great plant too! I have Warm In Winter also - got it last year from Floyd Cove as a bonus, I'm looking forward to seeing it in person. I'll probably end up selling it (need the garden space), but at least I'll enjoy the blooms this season :)

Laura - I'll be looking forward to seeing your Warm in Winter. At least it made it through your winter. That's a good sign. The first near white has pretty form and the plant habit is super. But I think it's inherited the slow multiplying genes through its grandparent, Great White. The lavender sibling is multiplying twice as fast as the white. And I really shouldn't call it a white. It's more of an ivory or a parchment.

I love the color on Rosie Cotton's Ribbon's, and It's Warm in Winter is just gorgeous even splotched. Rubber Maid X Dearest Valentine is a lovely white seedling and I like the seedling from Rubber Maid x Pink Aloha too. Very pretty. My seedling of yours that rebloomed is lovely today, by the way.
