    what great blue saturation ...

to help other peeps take pix ...... what were the conditions ... what time of day .. etc ...

looks overcast.. but rather bright ...

one thing i noted .. over the years.. during garden tours ... if you have to squint ... short of a very good camera ... stuff will wash out ... but if your eyes are wide open ... you see color better.. and accordingly.. take better pix ... this fits in with taking pix at dusk or dawn.... rather than noon ... unless you have no choice because that is when the us dropped you in front of the garden ....

looks like maple bark ... are you winning a maple battle??? .. second pic ...

    thx for the pix.. ken

Love these blues lindalana, especially Mystic Blue. Does that one stay blue all summer?

ken, I was thinking the same thing, “how does she get plants in the ground almost on top of the tree base?” I think two are in pots, but the rest?? How does she do it?

p.s. thanks for tips on photography!

I don’t have many blues combos because I tend to intersperse my colors, margins and streakers about the garden, but I will share a few favorites and one combo.

This is probably my best grouping:

Top left to right: Big Daddy, under BD is Blue Hawaii, to the right upper corner is a June, next to Japanese Forest Grass, Neptune and at the bottom center, Yankee Blue.

DJ, love that shady blue corner! Sometimes it is just best to keep it that way.

Valley Blue Curacao , another blue I love, got it last year and am waiting to place it. There are so many blues now that are just gorgeous.

No Maple slayer here but sure got a problem. This is 150 years old white oak.

lindalana..wow..I've never seen a tree so close to a house..are you taking it out?..

About that tree. My neighbor was denied insurance because his very mature tree was too close to his house; it wasn't nearly that close.

my trees are tall..although not as close to the house they could hit it if they fell 🙄 the reality of a wooded lot..

Thanks lindalana! OMG, that tree! It could damage your home in many ways.... I would be concerned for your roof and foundation. I understand about not wanting to take out a 150 oak, but could the upper big branches be trimmed so it’s not a hazard to you and your house?

Your neighbor should go to a new insurance company. Insurance companies charge premiums based on the risk--don't know of policies that stipulate that you have to have trees that could fall on your home removed--that would void coverage in many cities and suburban areas. It's not the same as living in the flood plain of a river when you can get federal flood insurance and then the insurance company lets you know you are in a flood plain and won't extend coverage for floods. that being said, the blues are gorgeous. I have Blue Hawaii, Blueberry Muffins, Van Wade Blue, Dorset Blue, Blue-Haired Lady, Joyride and a bunch of others. Most of mine are planted around variegated hostas so I don't have a "blue bed". Yours is very pretty, maybe I should rethink my beds. Of course, members of my household object to my moving plants around like they are furniture. These are the family members who are always involved in the digging up and replanting, lol.

Beverly, love your Blues! I just picked Frisian waving steel , am thinking it must go into pot.

Nice to see mature specimen! BBB does work to create serene mood, does not it?

As for tree, yeah, I think it has to come out. Our arborist tried to offload weight and it worked for some time.

Fantastic blues! I normally intersperse, here is a blue triangle in one bed.

Powder Blue, Silver Bay and Indigo.

Peren, love how they placed, you are not even seeing anything else, just blue triangle.

Sally, this is Skywriter, creation of Dan Wols, local to us , from Tinley park.

Dan apparently did a lit of work with Theo's blue, anyone has it?

lindalana..just a thought..would a sawmill want your tree?..I've heard stories where people get paid for their trees..usually walnut..usually not in a residential neighborhood..but you could look into it..
