I can’t ID it but I don’t think it’s Honeybells. Yours has such a vibrant purple. The flower on HB is a pale lavender. Good luck!

do you suspect it a newer named variety ...

or is it some old plant grandma had ...

It is one that a friend of mine gave me so I don't have much information about it. She has so many hostas that it is hard for her to keep track of them all.

Having had another, closer look at the pictures you posted I must admit the off-the-cuff ID I made is likely not correct. What gives me pause for thought are the flowers. 'Stirfry' flowers are much more open than what yours show and its leaves are more undulating than what yours are. I'm rather inclined to go along with Ken and point to H. ventricosa as being the likely ID.

PS. I have a smallish 'Stirfry' that's budding up and I'll make a point of taking some pictures and post them once they're fully open.

Ventricosa. I have lots of them. They're fabulous. Mine always set seed, and grow true from seed (which is why I have lots of them).

I agree with Ventricosa. Its a great, pretty, shiny green.
