Interesting: The only Juliet tomato that I know is a large grape type. Very prolific and good flavor. It was a AAS selection.

farmerdill, the OP was referring to a bush cherry tree, not a tomato :-)

mxk3, that's is good to know. Most sources tout Juliet as being exceptionally sweet for a bush cherry: "Possibly the sweetest bush cherry, Juliet Bush Cherry bears large crops of standard sized cherries that are as sweet as a sweet cherry! While many bush cherries are more similar to a pie cherry Juliet is sweet enough to eat fresh!"

It might have needed more time. I have Romeo and Juliet bush cherry. The Romeo are great for fresh eating. Juliet has yet to fruit for me but has a better reputation.

Gardengal: The fruit was deep red and soft = ready. They weren't sweet with a bit of tartness/sourness -- they were sour.

Funny, though -- I planted a serviceberry as a replacement multi-trunk small tree next to the patio, liked that it flowers, is native, and provides food for the wildlife -- from what I've heard the birds go cuckoo over the berries. Well, no birds but I ended up eating the berries right off the tree myself - they're quite tasty! Absolutely no effort on my part and a nice surprise -- ironic since I wasn't even trying. Kind of makes up for the bummer cherries. :0)

My Juliet cherries are only now ripening. I am in Ontario and they are very sweet and a zing! Not sour at all!

@mxk3, do you have a picture? As others have suggested it may not have been ripe, or maybe it was mislabeled. I had Juliet when i lived in Zone 5 (NE), and it was very pleasant to eat fresh. i liked it better than my Stella cherries.

But if the bush is attractive and producing, sour cherries still make a good jam!
