A neighbor at the old cabin used an electrical fireplace for supplemental heat.

To, me they look so tacky (cheap). Is this a budget issue, or do you think it is attractive?

For additional heat in my basement I use one of the roll-around heaters that look like a radiator on wheels. They are oil fllled to provide mass, so they provide a gentle heat that lasts well between cyling on and off. During the summer I just unplug it and store it in a closet. I like it much better than a forced air heater.

Good to know. Thank you. Yes, I like the look of the Dimplex Ignite XL and the living space isn’t too big. It would be cheaper about $1,500 than HVAC or gas stoves quotes that I have received.

In the 90’s, portable ceramic heaters were “high tech” and popular at the old cabin. I have two of those, as room heaters...

I am planning to buy an Envi this fall for next winter. I have the old ceramics, but want to try something new.

I am in CA, electricity is expensive. I want something to “keep the chill off” vs heating. I just wear a sweater.

Thanks Twin. Yes, I think I finally reached a winner. This seems like a breeze to install vs a gas option. And has 10,000 BTU output for my 500 sq ft space if hard-wired. May purchase for July 4th savings.
