Does this look like shropshire lad?

I ordered a wedge rose from DA. When it bloomed in May , it was wrong . Folks on Instagram suggested it could be shropshire lad. I’ve heard it dosnt rebloom well , if any.

if you have it , is that true for you ? I have blooms again on new growth so I wasn’t that . Here’s my May photos and then I’ll share my new pics .

That is a possibility, yes. If it is 'A Shropshire Lad', you will likely find its rebloom is very poor, as others have suggested. It also blackspots quite badly. If you can keep it clean and healthy, it will grow very large and has decent vigor. Just not a good bloomer, IME.

London blooms on Instagram has the most beautiful shropshire lad rose.... it blooms quite often and the reason I also got one... mine is super slow at growing but she did it took 3 years to get better

Thank you both !! I do think mine looks the same . I was surprised to see more buds coming , which made me question if that’s correct. But it’s really really pretty ! So I’ll let it grow this season and decide if I should keep it or not . I’ve always wanted it , but my climber / ground space is so incredibly limited.

Hi Lily....I grow 'A Shropshire Lad' and it's one of my favourite roses in my garden: beautiful foliage, stunning blooms, excellent rebloom, and good vigour. After all that praise, you'd think I have a picture to post, but I don't! hahaha Sometimes when a rose is really good for me, I know I will have plenty of photo ops, and then never take the photo!

Yours looks like it could be ASL. Mine has olive green rather shiny foliage. Yours doesn't look like mine. I'm going to go look now, and take a pic if there's a bloom!

Please share fotos rosylady!!! Mine just started growing, she even has a couple buds. Terrible timing tho, it has been so hot all the new leaves are burning 🥵

The first flush is finishing, but there were a few blooms opening still. One thing about this rose is it has a very strong scent. To me it's a classic rose scent...sort of hybrid tea smelling. And the leaves are huge, dark green, and shiny.

Hmmm I’m not sure ?! I’ll have to add more photos when it blooms again . It is getting taller though . It’s though bc I have another rose to take its place but if it’s going to keep blooming then I dont want to take it out !

Lily, Your ASL is beautiful! I had a own root in a pot, several yrs ago and it never did much of anything. It finally bloomed once after 3 yrs but it looked horrible. It was definitely a climber here. I dont think it liked our humid heat. It finally died a wretched death lol. I may try again sometime if I got it on fortuniana.
