We are getting ready to re-side our 1976 Colonial. I’m looking for ways to update the look (structural additions like a porch or portico are off the table right now). This leaves me with siding, shutters, paint color, roof, and lighting to play with (also replacing stoop and front walk). I’ve contemplated using two different types of siding...Hardie Plank on the front/back/sides with board and batten on the front of the garage and side of the garage (the side that connects to the front) or Hardie single on the front and possibly the garage with plank everywhere else...or just leave plank all the way around.
