I like what you have now. Although I think you have room for bookcases in the foyer but they would have to be narrow, I don’t think you will be getting that much sand the entrance will not look as airy.

Thank you! Yes the bookcases from IKEA are very narrow, it would be for the daycare kids jackets, hats, backpacks, shoes etc and extra cloths too. So what I have now is fine but as the weather will get colder they will have snow pants and boots etc

That Billy hack makes for very tall cabinets and would close in your entrance. (You probably know but thought I'd mention it for others: you'd need to anchor them to the wall, especially with little ones.) Also, I really don't think they'd fare well with a bunch of wet snowsuits. They're sturdy shelves but they're not waterproof. Keep those snowsuits over your tile. If your floors are hardwood, consider some type of rug to protect it during the winter season.

Okay! That’s a really good idea! I didn’t think of that. I thought it would close my entryway and i bought this house because of how spacious the front entryway was! Would the other 2 photos work?

The first photo makes sense because of the trays for wet boots and shoes. Were you planning on replacing the entry table with this type of storage? What you have looks good but if it's not optimally functional enough, tweak what doesn't work. Don't forget these pictures are styled. Real life open storage is rarely Pinterest-worthy, especially with kids' stuff. Kids don't align their boots just so or happen to buy coordinating backpacks. :)

Consider reworking your hanging rods in your closet. I’d raise the shelf up much higher and place two rods in the closet so that you can fit more children’s size clothing in there. You have some great ideas here!

I would not put wet snow suits over each other in a closet to hang all day. I like the look of the Billy hack. If it is too wide and/or long, maybe you can find something similar somewhere else.

I like the look of the billy hack! but I'd advise against choosing that specific bookcase. Billy is cheap for a reason. it looks like formica, but it's actually a thin "foil" veneer (similar to contact paper) over low quality particle board. it will sag, wobble, bubble, scratch and peel in about a year. do something that looks like the billy hack, but use real wood or metal.

I'm not an anti-Ikea snob, and in fact I love that place. but you have to know what to look for there and think about who is using it. dozens of kid hands grabbing at their belongings in a flimsy bookcase is going to wear it down in no time.

Yes I totally agree! I’d rather it be safe and last a long time.

@ashtonchic I also don’t put wet suits in closets-I put them on the hooks across the side table where it drips on a mat and there’s tile underneath so it’s easy to clean! I need something for the daycare kids to put their things on and off semi independently

Maybe their Pax wardrobe system for everyday use since it has doors to close off the visual clutter and you can set up one of those portable garment racks for the winter which would allow the snowsuits to air dry? Though I’d probably just toss them into the drier on low to speed that process up.

And if you didn’t want to fuss with hangers (always an issue for kids), you could use something like an s-hook that would go around the rod and function as a hook for the kids. You may even be able to tighten one of the curves to fit around the rod and thus not fall off.

I’m not sure Billy’s back board is strong enough to deal with a bunch of kids’ stuff hanging on hooks. If the kids come in with wet gear, I would rather hang them on sturdy hooks out in the open so they can drip and dry....you can place rubber boot mats with raised edges along the floor for the drips and boots/shoes. A sturdy shelf above their coats can hold lunches, hats or other other stuff.
