Yes, there is a way. Only one in the living room (sounds like that is the plan). Key is to make most other items in the room either contemporary or modern. Notice how the bottom photo actually feels feminine. You really can make it what you want.

I like CDR's examples, which prove that this can be achieved. Agree that it would help to see photos of what you have to work with though.

You may receive some responses from those who find mounts completely objectionable. I might have been one of them once, but we spend time in a mountain cabin that has been decorated thusly and I have come to appreciate the look. Have long loved the look of old bleached bones, Georgia O'Keeffe style, and the mounts are just another iteration.
