Sure looks like it to me. Have you compared the number of veins and the back of the leaves? See if they bloom at the same time with the same color blossoms. Are the blooms both fragrant? There are many similar blues, but in my limited experience, I don't think many have fragrant blossoms.

I don't think Fragrant Blue is very fragrant, if at all.

However, they don't appear to me to be the same hosta in these two photos. However, I looked at the Fragrant Blues in the hostalibrary and they look all different ways. Some are corrugated, some are not, some are flat, others are not, so there is quite a bit of variation. If it FB, it been around a long time, which in hostaland means mutation.

I would go by what loisflan says, and see what the flowers look like and when they bloom and make my determination by that.

I had a Fragrant Blue. I remember a discussion about fragrance. Some said theirs had no fragrance and others said theirs had a faint scent. So like bkay says, don't go on fragrance. I know I got my FB from a very reputable source. It only had a faint sweet scent.

As for the flowers, the buds are light lavender. When they open they are almost white.

I remember that my FB is not really fragrant unless I actually stick my nose in it. The FB is starting to send a scape now, but so far I don’t see one coming on the other plant. I will have to save the vein counting until I can convince my husband to cut two leaves for me or I can get them myself which may mean a couple of weeks yet.

When you see the flowers, I think you will have confirmation that your FB is actually FB! Unfortunately you may have to wait until next year for the second hosta.

both are immature... so they both might change ...

one tends toward heart shaped leaves.. while the other favors lance shaped leaves ...

so at this moment in time.. i say no.. they are not the same ...

Took some leaf photos today. The similarity between the two hostas is noticeable. First, it’s interesting how much greener they look inside than out. Both leaves have a powdery top and both are gray/glacaus (?) underneath. Both are putting up petioles and buds look similar. Each has a very curved tip. The vein count is off by one, but the actual FB is a smaller plant. I know the FB leaf looks thinner, but I removed that leave from underneath the others.One last thing, each leaf has a darker edge going down the leaf stalk. What do you think?

The difference is subtle but agree with Ken. Not the same. Give it couple more years it should get more pronounced.

I finally have an answer because both hostas have bloomed.

Apparently they are NOT the same hosta. Let me post the hosta with the flower.

Utog, is your FB flower white? It’s hard to tell, mine has faint lavender stripes.

My Fragrant Blue has white flowers. It heaved while overwintering last year, so the plant itself is not impressive. I looked through old photos. My Secret Loves also had white flowers, though I remember some light lavendar stripes. On review of photos on Hostalibrary and Hostaparadise, it seems that flowers can have lavendar buds or even lavendar stripes. The registration says white. I remember reading in a hosta encyclopedia that Fragrant Blue may represent a couple of cultivars now due to some drift in tissue culture over the decades.

I read in the data base that in 3 cases the flowers of FB are white/near white and that in 3 other cases the flowers of FB are light blue/pale lavender. Who knows for sure? :-)

I have smelled both flowers. They are both blooming, but neither really seems fragrant to be honest. I noted that last year when someone on the forum mentionEd their FB was not fragrant. Of course I immediately went to smell mine and mine didn’t smell really either. So neither one of really smells. So maybe I have some form of FB in the second plant. But. The NOID FB actually matches Zillis’ description better have heart shaped to ovate leaves. But the colors are so remarkably the same. I don’t know any other hostas with this color, do you? Also, a few years ago, I planted a Wishing Well in the NOID spot but it disappeared and a couple of years later the FB NOID grew there. So, yes, the plot thickens.......hahaha!
