What is my Paradigm reverting to?

I have a 5-6 year old Paradigm that has several leaves reverting. What does it revert to?

Well, the Hosta Library says that Paradigm is a sport of Abiqua Recluse which is a yellow-gold hosta in the summer (although it is chartreuse in the spring). Your solid leaves look pretty green to me. Paradigm is also supposed to have pale lavender flowers, and yours look quite white. Are you sure this is Paradigm? If it is, from what I've been told, it's either reverting to Abiqua Recluse or producing a green sport of its own. That being said, I'm no expert. Maybe someone who is can give you a better answer.

I often find inconsistencies in the database. The lines above say Paradigm has near white bell shaped flowers. Then in the description below it says a pale lavender flower. The flower photo shows a very very light lavender to almost white. My flowers are near white with a hint of a lavender stripe. I can’t get a close enough photo this year using a walker. :-(

I'm glad you asked that question because I also have a Paradigm that put out some green leaves. It's a young plant. Got it in 2018 when it was one eye. It went to 3 eyes in 2019. One eye was Paradigm and the other two were not. I didn't remove the Paradigm so it is getting smaller and smaller. I can get a picture of it tomorrow if you're interested.

Thanks mikgag, I knew it wasn’t Abiqua Recluse as it doesn’t look like it. Appreciate the ID!

Mikgag, I looked up Glitter, and it is also listed as a sport of Abiqua Recluse. Shouldn't it be a sport of Paradigm? How does that work?

My green reversion doesn't look like Glitter. Maybe because it's in the shade? I don't understand how it could be Glitter either. Give us your thoughts mikgag.

Well, it might not exactly be Glitter, but it can be so similar that it doesn't really matter. They have the same heritage as it's reported to be a sport of Abiqua Recluse and also reported to be a sport of Paradigm. It's not registered, so who knows? Apparently, it's mainly sold in Europe.

I did notice that all these hostas seem to be related in some way. I am happy to call it possible “Glitter.” :-D

Looks like you and I have a Paradigm sport. Have a look at this older thread:

    Solid green sport of Paradigm?

From what I see, it looks like you may have Glitter and I have Green Glitter. More time will tell.

My one eye Paradigm is so small you can't even see it! For comparison, the leaf on the right is Fragrant Bouquet.
