For a practical gift, how about a gift certificate to a nice restaurant that offers takeout? They may not like to cook, but everyone has to eat.

For a more elegant gift, I love a modern aesthetic, and I love to give gifts from Kosta Boda or Nambé. If she is more traditional you could chose a small Baccarat vase or Lalique bowl.

Buying decor for a decorator is risky unless you know them very very well. I like what Couture Vert suggested.

What about a flower subscription so that a fresh bouquet is delivered once a month for 6 months to a year? Bloomsy Box, Bouqs, and UrbanStems all come to mind.

A gift card to Williams Sonoma may be nice. Or if you know of a boutique she likes to purchase from to decorate her own home, that would be appreciated, I'm sure. I agree that gifting actual decor items could be difficult unless you know of something specific she has her eye on.

Or you are buying something that is classic and timeless. Baccarat isn’t out of place in any tasteful space, and vases and bowls, especially something like the Nambé that can be used as a serving bowl, are really useful.

When we were doing our whole home restoration, our designer exclaimed over the contractor's laser distance measurement device (might have a different name - can't remember), so I got her one as a gift at the end of our project. Not as sexy as crystal, but she seemed thrilled with it.

The best gift is a glowing review on her website, yelp, Angie's list, etc. Spread word of mouth also. And a hand written thank you note. this is very personal and an almost forgotten art.

Delivery of flowers is a thoughtful idea indeed as other gifts might not be appropriate but do write a good review and testimonials to show your appreciation.
