A volunteered melon appeared among my tomatoes, flowered and set 2 marble-sized fruits thus far. I suspect it's a muskmelon. The leaves are rather small and pale. I'm not sure if the scorching heat here in inland San Diego is the problem as I don't get home until late and the plant is likely parched for a good part of the day. I've used jute netting to help keep the soil moist and place a small stone under the little guy just to give it some protection against unscrupulous critters and pathogens. Should I feed the plant high-N fish emulsion to make it greener and more lush or do I go for the tomato fertilizer w/ more balance PK?
