Personally, I think I would leave it. It’s tan... a warm tone that works with the wood, and any other color you paint it may not work as well; also, don’t want to stack up layers of paint. The color that’s there actually sort of matches your table and chairs. I love the light fixture, btw.

It is what it is. I don’t know why the people did that, but thank goodness that is all they did. TBH, I really don’t think that is a big deal. You would not believe the destruction of classic architecture that I see on this site, on a regular basis. Recently, someone actually posted a dilemma asking for white paint options and whitewashing suggestions for a classic log cabin they were considering purchasing - because they wanted to ‘’modernize’’ it.

Just count yourself fortunate that this is all these people did, and enjoy the quirkiness of it. In fact, if you wanted to have fun with it, you could have some upholstered/fabric wall panels made - in a beautiful complementary fabric - would be like a wallpaper for your dining room. You could put the panels on one of the other walls, maybe the wall adjacent to table - the window wall.

We’re actually getting new tables and chairs - going more mid-century cabin rather than rustic like it’s decorated now. I agree that what people are doing to cabins is crazy! I’d rather preserve it for what it is rather than make it look like every other house.

Are you going to do a new tile floor? Or put a rug under the table? If so, I would whitewash the areas that are already painted tan, in a color that goes with the floors. It’s kind of weird that someone would paint logs a color that is close to the color of the logs.

Since it seems to be an exterior (add on) room or porch conversion, you could easily block off that room and have the paint cob blasted off. That's probably and expensive way to restore it. I would be more concerned about that white floor!

I know! The floor is a bummer too. I don’t think we can tile over it because it’s not on concrete. Considering ripping it up and re-tiling or using temporary decals like this for now.

Was that room the front porch at one time? And could have been painted before the enclosure was made.
