do you have lightening bugs at night?? .. fireflies???

It's a beetle, which narrows it down to thousands of species - try looking for references to the insects of a geographical area you fall within, then seeing what beetles they show as being in that area. I get the same general type appearing seasonally in my area also - it is probably discussed frequently once you find the right sources.

Sure looks like a firefly to me!

Check his butt--fireflies will have lighter coloring at the tip. Soldier beetles have a very similar look, so compare with those guys as well.

Ok thanks all. I looked them up and I do believe it’s a firefly. We do have them.
