Some people have used a clothes closet with bi-fold doors for a sewing nook. Open doors, work, close doors and no one sees the sewing mess.

You can usually buy armoir's pretty cheaply these days.

I like Katie's idea and would add that a linen closet could do the trick too. You can also just get her a rolling storage cart and insist she packs it away and slide it + materials in one kit into the closet when she's done.

I recently got this Crea Sewing Craft Table by South Shore. It’s available from Wayfair and South Shore. You have to assemble it, but the quality is very good, and the size is generous.
